Welcome to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine.
These virtual tours let you virtually climb to the top of Cadillac Mountain, 1,530
feet into the sky. It is the highest point on the East Coast that
sees the earliest sunrise on January 1 each year. The official
sunrise on that date occurs at 7:04 a.m. Cadillac Mountain used to be called Green Mountain, but
was renamed Cadillac Mountain by Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de
Cadillac. If you think that's a big name, go see the mountain! There are
various hiking trails to the summit of Cadillac Mountain or you can drive,
like we did and stop at marked lookout areas before reaching the
magnificent Mountain top. This area also has restroom facilities at
the top. This scenic trip is free of charge and open all year.
Bring your picnic basket, art easels, camera and take it all in -- it's
spectacular!
