Celebration
Rt 1, Sullivan, Maine
Come celebrate the
summer with an entire day of fun and special events including
raffle tickets for a variety of prizes, a bounce house for the
children with games and a dunk tank. Come on out and
support the town's Fire and Rescue Department and Women's
Auxiliary. Eat hamburgers, hot dogs and mouth watering
sausage. Then, at 9 pm enjoy the fireworks display over
Taunton Bay.
The gazebo in
Sumner Park at Route 1 and Taunton Drive will serve as a stage
throughout the day for performances by a long list of musicians
scheduled to perform between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. They include the
Higgins Family (11 a.m.), Jimmy Barnes (noon), Jeremy Strater (5
p.m.), Rode Hard (6 p.m.), Daedalus (7 p.m.) and Still Standing
(8 p.m.).
Also scheduled is
a 2 p.m. Maine State Police K-9 demonstration.
Activities begin
at 7 a.m. at the Sorrento-Sullivan Recreation Center, where
breakfast will be served until 9 a.m. The cost is $5 or $3 for
children under age 5.
The town’s
library and historical society, which are both located within
the Recreation Center, will host open houses throughout the day.
A dedication of the town’s new playground at the Recreation
Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
A parade at 10:30
a.m. will kick off at Quarry Road and continue along Taunton
Drive to Sumner Park. Lineup begins at 10 a.m.
Craft and food
vendors will be in the park throughout the day.
